We have art baby!!
Another stunning wedding gift I just have to share...
My gorgeous (and incredibly generous) family gave us this amazing paining by Betty Club Mbitjana as a wedding gift! It is called "Body Paint for Women's Ceremony" and it is just beautiful! Betty is from the Utopia region in the Northern Territory and she is continuing the tradition of painting the bush melon and body painting motifs used for traditional women's ceremonies.
The small circles in Betty's paintings represent the Bush Melon. The elongated u-shaped patterns with horizontal lines represent the designs painted on the breast and upper body used by women to decorate each other’s bodies for traditional ceremonies. The large concentric circles represent the place where the sacred women’s ceremonies would take place.
My family found this paining from The Artery (www.theartery.com.au), a contemporary aboriginal art gallery in Darlinghurst, Sydney.
It is the most stunning piece and we just love it!!
